Vip Scheme
This was my beautiful little Lola. She brought so much love and joy to house and was a fantastic little support dog for my 4 year old autistic daughter. We joined the vets VIP scheme as it sounded like a great idea for Lola, this included worming, flea and tick treatment, regular check ups, nail clipped etc. All sounded great.
Foaming and vomiting
On the 2nd dose of the flea and tick treatment she became very unwell. That evening my poor puppy started foaming at the mouth and vomiting. After a while she started to fit, she could not stand up. I laid with her and tried to comfort her while I rang the vets, they said to bring her in in the morning.
I came off the phone and Lola began to get even worse, she could not stop seizing and lost control of her bladder and bowel. My poor baby was in such a terrible state. I called them straight back and they told me to take her in. They said they'd call me in the morning to let me know what time I could pick my little girl up.
They couldn't stop the seizures
My phone rung, I was looking forward to hearing what time I could collect her. Instead they told me my beautiful little girl had died through the night. She was all alone, probably so scared. Her little body couldn't take any more. It absolutely rips my heart apart. They kept pumping her full of drugs to try and stop the seizures but it wasn't working. When someone had gone back in they'd found her dead. I went in and saw my little girl, I held her as close as I could, she was so cold and i just broke down again, I didn't want to leave her.
I happened to join an epilepsy dog page on FB, it was there someone asked me what flea and tick treatment she'd had. I didn't know offhand so checked her card - BRAVECTO. The lady had asked if it was Bravecto and went on to tell me the effects. I looked on the Internet about it and to say I was horrified at what I read was an understatement.
I'd trusted my vet
The sheer amount of animals dead and ill because of it was endless. I'd trusted my vet to do the best for my little girl, not poison her to death. I read on the Bravecto site itself that it can cause neurological damage etc.
Poison
Why was I not informed of this before it was given to her? There is no way on God's given earth would I have allowed it to be used on her if I'd had known. I've got her little ashes on my mantelpiece to keep her close to me. I lost my little girl all because of some poison that is still allowed to be sold out there. It's an absolute disgrace!! I don't know how they get away with it.
