Shannon Sternloff – “Stone”, our Siberian Husky (18 months old)
On the evening of July 10th, our precious Siberian Husky left us to run with the spirit pack. His name was Stone and he was only 18 months old.
Stone loved to run up mountain bike trails with his human dad, as well as chase squeaky balls, have tug of war competitions, and play with his friends. In his short time on earth, Stone taught us about life and what true love was all about. He was gentle and kind to all, he loved to play! He was his dad's favourite mountain bike partner and his mom's beating heart. He was the sentinel on our deck and the self-appointed protector of the cul-de-sac.
On the evening of the 10th, for the first time ever, Stone developed neurological seizure-like symptoms and was dead
with-in 15 minutes of on-set. He died in his mothers arms.
Afterward, we are confused how a young healthy dog, could be so quickly debiliated and die. We soon became aware about the (un)safety of flea and tick medicine which he had used, just three weeks previous at the request of the vet.
It was called Bravecto. We did not know that dangers upon administration, and are still not sure, but it is the only thing that was different in his usual raw meat diet.
When it happened, he came to us and could not walk. Each leg was acting independently, spasm like, trying to run, but not in unison. He seemed wanted to run but could not. Soon he could not wag his tail.
It seemed neurological, like convulsions. His eyes became narrower and it was evident he was losing oxygen. His tongue fell out and his gums were grey. We did not know how to recesitate, and in a few minutes his heart had stopped. Our beautiful dog had left us.
Those of you that have been meditating or praying for light and love during these weird times, please kindly direct a bit of that energy towards us. Thank-you!
Otherwise, we hope our little fellow is now running up endless trails, and that he always has a friend beside him. Mom and pop are sending love to you daily, Stoney. Go gently little one, you are carrying our hearts. 😘
